In relation to a robbery at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region that involved the loss of gold worth GHS199,000 and other things, the Ghana Police Service has detained three suspects.

The Police said in a statement on its official Facebook page on Saturday, April 26, 2025, that Felix Adjei, also known as Africa or Nana Adjei; Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national; and Kofi Appiah, also known as Kesse, were arrested as a result of an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Western Central Regional Command.

According to preliminary findings, on April 4, 2025, armed males who had come from surrounding bushes attacked Mr. Appiah, a driver for Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited, and another employee, Emmanuel Adu, as they were leaving Wassa Ayiem after retrieving gold from a customer. After firing warning shots, the assailants fled with two cell phones, 14 pounds of gold, and an unlicensed Toyota Corolla that was later discovered abandoned in a nearby village.

On April 21, 2025, Mr. Appiah was taken into custody at his Wassa Akropong home after more inquiries. At separate hiding places, the other two suspects were later taken into custody.

A Jojeff pump-action gun with butt number 168316, a Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number, 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 ammunitions, a locally made pistol, and GHS65,000 in cash that was thought to be robbery proceeds were all recovered by the police during the operation. The three accused are helping with continuing investigations while being held by the police.
