throughout keeping with his pledge to fight an unrelenting battle against illicit mining throughout the nation, Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has reorganized 34 police commanders in galamsey-prone districts. According to top-level police sources who spoke to the Daily Graphic, this was only the first stage of a significant reorganization that is still going on, with many more to come in order to reenergize the nation's battle against illegal mining.
Nkawie and Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, Anyinam and Nsawam in the Eastern Region, and Takoradi, Asankragwa, and Tarkwa in the Western Region are among the impacted commands. According to the sources, ACP Thomas Osei Ababio leaves the Asankragwa Divisional Command to lead the Yendi Divisional Command in the Northern Region, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jonathan A. Lamptey of the Gambaga Divisional Command moves to assume leadership of the Takoradi Divisional Command.
Others include ACP Raymond Kofi Erzuah of the Tarkwa Divisional Command, who takes over the Kpando Divisional Command in the Volta North Region; ACP Samuel Yeboah, who transfers from the Kpando Divisional Command to the Essiama Divisional Command in the Western Region; and Samuel Stephen Okunor of the Northern Regional Headquarters, who has relocated to the Bekwai Divisional Command.
The Nsawam District Command's in-charge, Chief Superintendent (C/Supt) Ebenezer Benson, relocates to the Central Region's Dawurampong Divisional. While C/Supt Mahmud Yussif departs the Northern Region's Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (RMTTD) and relocates to the Western Region's Tarkwa Divisional Command, C/Supt Vitus Napen leaves his position at the Nkawie Divisional Command to join the Asankragwa Divisional Command.
It also features C/Supt Joshua Semenyo moving from the Takoradi District Command to the Nkawie Divisional Command, C/Supt William Gyamfi of the Mpohor District Command in the Western Region to the Dzodze District Command in the Volta Region, and C/Supt Daniel Anane Amoah of the Takoradi Divisional Command taking over at the Navrongo Divisional Command in the Upper East Region.
Staff Officer Supt Kwaku Ayepa of the Western Regional Command assumes leadership of the Bolga District Command in the Upper East Region, while Supt Stephen Appiah of the Essiama District in the Western Region transfers to the Nsawam District Command. Supt. Alexander Tieku of the James Town District Command in the Ashanti Region relocates to the Anyinam District Command in the Eastern Region, while Supt. Valentine K. Akposu transfers from the Agona Nkwanta District Command in the Western Region to the Gushiegu District in the Northern Region.
While Supt Angmorter Van-Kofi Eric transfers from the Dzodze District Command to the Mpohor District Command in the Western Region, Supt Simon Woyram Setorglo of the Prestea District Command in the Western Central Region has been sent to Police Headquarters to oversee Logistics. Supt. James Ankan of the Nadowli District Command assumes the position at the Asankragwa District Command, while Supt. Isaac Kofi Kumnipah of the Sekondi District Command in the Western Region now leads the Nadowli District Command in the Upper West Region.
To take leadership of the Funsi District Command in the Upper West Region, Supt. Fred Ntore Atta-Yeboah departs from the Asangragwa District Command. Supt. Cliff Ofei Ayeh of Mile 7 District Command in the Ashanti Region is assigned to the Essiama District in the Western Region, Supt. Emmanuel Kobina Essel moves from the Police Headquarters (Logistics) to the Prestea District Command in the Western Central Command, Supt. Amoani Anoff William leaves the Nsuaem District Command in the Western Region to the Tolon District Command in the Northern Region, and Supt. Mohammed Adamu Awal moves from the Elubo District in the Western Region to the Tatale District Command in the Northern Region.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Peter Paul Amoah departs the Tatale District Command in the Northern Region to oversee the Elubo District Command, DSP Franklin K. Selby departs the Manso Amenfi District in the Western Central Region for the Gwollu District in the Upper West Region, and Supt Raymond Iddrisu departs the Anyinam District Command for the Aveyime District Command in the Volta Region.
DSP Gladstone Kumeko moves to the Nsuaem District in the Western Central Command from the Tolon District Command in the Northern Region. DSP Thomas Tulasi of Gushiegu District in the Northern Region assumes the position in the Agona Nkwanta District in the Western Region, DSP Victor Akakpo departs the Gwollu District for the Manso Amenfi District in the Western Central Region, and DSP Salifu Yahya of the Wulensi District in the Northern Region departs for the Daboase District Command in the Western Region.
ASP Kwaku Obeng has left the Shama District in the Western Region for the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters, DSP Anthony Duodu has left the Daboase District in the Western Region for the Wulensi District Command in the Northern Region, and ASP Sulemana Abubakari has left the Funsi District Command for the Sekondi District Command.
