GES and LEADIF Issue Stern Warning to 2025 WASSCE Candidates and WAEC Regarding Malpractice

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended its best wishes to the 461,640 school candidates sitting for the 2025 WASSCE in Ghana. In its message of support, the GES urged students to have confidence in their preparation and abilities. At the same time, it issued a strong warning against any form of examination malpractice, emphasizing the importance of integrity throughout the exam period.

In a statement signed by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, candidates were encouraged to remain focused and uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the examination period.

"The Ghana Education Service wishes all candidates the very best. Believe in your preparation, stay disciplined, and avoid any form of malpractice. Go and make Ghana proud," the Director-General stated.

WAEC Urged to Safeguard the Integrity of the 2025 WASSCE

Meanwhile, the Lead Impact Foundation (LEADIF) has issued a strong appeal to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to protect the integrity and credibility of the 2025 WASSCE. In a press release dated August 4, 2025, LEADIF stressed the importance of zero tolerance for exam malpractice and called for radical transparency in efforts to combat examination fraud.

“The time for vague promises and internal sanctions, which have proven ineffective, is over,” the release stated.

“LEADIF demands a policy of ZERO TOLERANCE and RADICAL TRANSPARENCY. We charge WAEC to publicly name and shame any and all individuals and institutions found culpable in perpetrating examination fraud.” The organization added.

Exam Malpractice Threatens Ghana’s Global Educational Credibility

LEADIF also warned that any failure to decisively combat examination malpractice would undermine the global value of the WASSCE certificate, which many students depend on for further education and job opportunities.

“Failure to act decisively will render the WASSCE certificate worthless on the global stage. We will end up producing a generation with excellent grades but hollow minds. The damage to our national human capital will be irreparable.”

The Foundation stressed that ensuring exam credibility is not WAEC’s burden alone. It called on the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, security agencies, and parents to collectively promote integrity and accountability during the examination period.

2025 WASSCE in Progress Across Ghana

The 2025 WASSCE in Ghana officially began on 4th August 2025 and will end on 19th September 2025. This year’s examination is being written exclusively in Ghana and involves over 461,000 school candidates nationwide.

As candidates battle for success in this critical, life-defining examination, calls for discipline, honesty, and credibility from education stakeholders continue to grow louder.
